Part-Time Salaried Position
$22/hour | August 24, 2026 – May 28, 2027
Position Overview
The Programs Associate is a key member of Vault Theatre’s growing team and reports directly to the Producing Artistic Director to deliver high-quality, process-based theatre programming for young people across Durham. This part-time, salaried role includes a balance of teaching, performing, and administrative leadership, including ownership of class management, program logistics, and key communications.

Teaching & Program Delivery
This role will teach in a variety of Vault Theatre’s programs including studio classes, training classes, creative learning classes, and school break camps. Ideally looking for a teaching artist with experience teaching dance or music, but open to all teaching disciplines. The ideal candidate is confident leading ensemble-based, process-driven work with young artists.
Teaching would make up 20% of this role.
Productions

Serve as Tour Manager and/or performer for Vault Theatre’s TYA and TVY programming

Lead touring logistics including load-in, strike, student engagement, and partner communication

Support VaultWorks productions as assigned
Production responsibilities make up approximately 20% of this role. TVY occurs once in the fall; TYA tours primarily January–May, typically one performance per week following the rehearsal process.
Administrative & Program Support

Oversee class registration, enrollment tracking, and roster management

Serve as a primary point of contact for families, managing communication around classes, schedules, and program updates

Coordinate TYA booking logistics, including outreach, scheduling, and partner communication
Communications and Development support

Support grant writing and reporting processes

Support and lead specific marketing efforts

Reaching out to schools, families, partners to promote programs
Additional administrative responsibilities as needed to support program operations.
Support maintaining a clean and organized studio space, which may include tasks like taking out trash or cleaning shared areas (including bathrooms).
Organizational Development

Represent Vault Theatre at performances, meetings, and community events

Contribute insight and reflection to support ongoing program development and organizational growth
Schedule & Compensation
This is a part-time, salaried position paid at $22/hour for 20 scheduled hours per week. A consistent weekly schedule will be established at the start of the position and maintained throughout the contract, with occasional adjustments made as needed.
This is a seasonal position with the potential for growth into a full-time role as the organization expands.

Experience teaching theatre to young people in ensemble and process-based settings

Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
