Catherine kelly
Catherine Kelly is a stage performer, director, and educator, and a proud native of North Carolina! She is currently pursuing a second Master’s degree in Arts Management at the University of Oklahoma. After earning her MM degree in Vocal Performance from James Madison University, Catherine moved to Germany, where she worked as a soloist at Frieberg’s Mittelsächsisches Theater. She relocated to Vienna, Austria, the following year to perform the role of Susanna in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro. As a member of the chamber trio Ensemble Poetico, Catherine appeared in various German music festivals, including Palais Sommer in Dresden and Mittelrhein Musik Festival in St. Goar. Since returning to her home state, Catherine has stayed active as a freelancer.
In addition to holding teaching positions at Ravenscroft School, Theatre Raleigh, Gardner-Webb University, and Vault Theatre, Catherine has worked as a company member of Sweet Tea Shakespeare; served as a staff vocalist at Duke Chapel; acted in independent films, commercials, and theatrical productions; directed musicals and operas for community and university-level theatre; and performed as an oratorio and sacred music soloist in churches throughout North Carolina. Some of Catherine’s memorable stage roles include Pamina in The Magic Flute, Anne in The Diary of Anne Frank (German), Louisa in The Fantasticks, Catherine in Pippin, Sandy in Grease, Eve in Paradise Lost, and Celia in As You Like LIT. Catherine is the founder of Sidewalk Opera, a non-profit organization that provides free classical music concerts for surrounding communities and raises funds to provide musical instruments for local families.
