AUDITIONS
Vault Theatre, a professional theatre company located in Durham, is dedicated to unlocking the imagination through comprehensive and innovative theatre programming onstage, in the classroom, and within the community. Vault Theatre is focused on investing in the artistic work and stories of our rising young voices. Our work celebrates stories of radical hope for the future for audiences of all ages, nurtures the artistic voices of young performers, creates dialogues for social change, and mentors early career artists for continued growth in the performing arts industry.

ROLES: Theatre for Young Audience tour of Red Riding Hood by Allison Gregory. Casting two actors for the roles of Wolfgang and Red. Auditioning all folks of any ethnicity, gender identity. Auditioning actors ages 18+
Wolfgang - a larger than life actor who is telling the story of Red Riding Hood as a one-wolf show. Big comedic role with classic big bad wolf energy.
Red - A delivery person who shows up and jumps on stage to helps tell the story. Red is a mix of a little bit of mystery and cleverness.
STATUS: Non-equity contract
DATES: Rehearsal in August/September. Performances to start end of September. Exact rehearsal schedule dependent on actors' schedules. Ideally day time rehearsals, but flexible.
COMPENSATION: $22 per hour for rehearsals. Performances $22 per hour with a minimum of $88 on show days.
AUDITION DETAILS: Auditions will be held in-person on Saturday, June 22nd from 1pm-4pm at the Durham Friends Meeting House 404 Alexander Ave., Durham, NC 27705.
VIRTUAL AUDITION: If auditioning in-person is not possible, VT is also accepting self-tapes in lieu of in-person audition. Please use this form to turn in video.
THE SHOW: Vault Theatre will tour this production to schools primarily in Durham, but throughout the Triangle, and has a goal of 15 performances over the course of the academic school year (September 2023-May 2024), hopefully with more performances. Pick up rehearsals will be scheduled as needed throughout the year. Two show dates already selected: September 28th and December 7th.
RED RIDING HOOD

Step into the theatre for one of the world's best actors, Wolfgang's legendary performance of the classic fairy tale! This one-wolf show is interrupted by the delivery of a mysterious package, but instead of leaving, the delivery person joins Wolfgang to tell the story. This madcap retelling is full of laughs delivered through puns and knock-knock jokes that will have audiences howling. Like an unexpected package, when you open up a fairy tale, you never know what you're going to find!
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
-Actor travels to performance venues and schools within the Triangle
-Alongside acting partners travel with and set up touring equipment at each venue including sets, props, and sound
-This position involves working within schools and will require a background check
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
-Ability to maintain a positive work environment by communicating and behaving in a positive manner with all --artists, staff, schools, and young people
-Prior experience working with young people as a teaching artist a plus
-Actor must have reliable transportation throughout the Triangle
-Have flexible schedule for weekday, daytime performances at schools
PREPARE
This is a two-person show is a unique retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood story. The show is full of physical theatre and puns. Both characters tell the story as well as creating the multiple characters. Please prepare a monologue and be creative as you like with your chosen material. Sides will be provided in the audition confirmation email.
